Put one (two*) action cube on the market area on your player mat. For each market constructed, perform one trading transaction: buy or sell up to 6 items of a certain resource or up to 3 items of a certain product. If you have a couple of markets constructed, each transaction should be with different kinds of goods.
Pay coins while purchasing the goods and take coins while selling, according to the current price. The current price is indicated on the price scale of the track board, under the transparent marker.
Move a price marker on the price scale according to the demand. If you were buying, move the marker one division to the right (prices go up), if you were selling - move it to the left (prices go down).
In your turn, while choosing the trade as your main action, you can buy or sell several times, the same or different products, spending action cubes each time.
[*] If there are any action cubes on the market area already, thus you have already traded this round, place two action cubes to perform this action again. Moreover, you can trade the same goods as you've traded this round. That means you can speculate within one turn, but not within one action.
Certain technologies allow you to trade more efficiently.
Alex decides to sell , because its price is quite attractive. For that he put one action cube on the market area of his player mat, discards 3
from his warehouse and takes 12
for each 1
, 36
total.
Then he moves the price marker one division left (price goes down). Now 1 costs 10
for purchasing, as well as for selling for all players
Nadia has three markets constructed. She has already traded this round once, that is why there is an action cube there.
Nadia decides to trade again, so she puts two action cubes on a market area and sells 3 and 2
, as well as buys 6
.
She takes 18 , discards 3
from her meadery, and moves the mead price marker to the left. Now 1
costs 5
.
Then she takes 16 , discards 2
from her artisan workshop, and changes the price for fabric. Now 1
costs 7
.
Finally Nadia pays 3 for each 1
. She has a discount (price marker shows 4
= 3
), as she has SEA IMPORT technology, and takes 6
to her mill. Then she would have to move the price marker to the right, but it is on the far right division already, so nothing changes.
This is an optional rule, we do not recommend using it in the first game.
Place the action cube(s) in the market area. You can now trade (exchange) goods with other players. For each market you have built, you may perform one transaction. When buying, you are limited to receiving up to 6 resources or 3 products per transaction. However, you may give away an unlimited number of goods to your trading partner during the exchange.
If you have more than one market, you can combine buying / selling goods with the exchange of goods within one action.
When you exchange goods, the market prices remain unchanged.
Alex lacks for consumption at the end of the round. He has one action cube left, so he cannot produce mead anymore. Another way is to go to the market to buy it, but the price is too high, and he does not have enough coins. So Alex asks Laura (green player) to exchange her mead for his stone. Laura sees his situation and sets the price of 20
for 2
. If took a minute of negotiation for Alex to lower the price to 15
. Once the deal is made, Alex puts his last action cube in the market area.
As a result, he gets 2 , and Laure - 15
, while the market price of mead and stone remains unchanged.
