Take the chosen card from the technology grid, and put on the empty spot as many action cubes as the number of spaces it takes to move from your cubes on the technology grid, or from the edge of it (if it is your first research). When you count the spaces, move horizontally and vertically. Place all of your action cubes on the new empty spot.
Pay goods and coins listed on the chosen technology card and put it face up in your player zone. Now it is researched and available instantly.
Place technology cards in your player zone, starting from top left corner of your player mat, making a grid up to three rows long and unlimited columns wide. If it is possible, place a card adjacent to two other cards, or at least to one card and to your player mat. Once you placed the technology card, you must not move it anymore.
Mike (red player) would like to research Rag and Bones Man technology. He has researched this round already, and his action cube is two spaces away from the chosen technology card. Mike takes the card, puts his two action cubes on the new empty spot and moves here his another action cube (the one that was here before this turn). He pays 2 + 1
+ 1
as the price for this technology.
Mike can use it this very round, let's say, his next turn, spending no resources for manufacturing one type of products.
If another player researched the technology of big importance to you, you can borrow it.
From now on this technology belongs to both of you. It counts towards the Innovation achievement, along with your other technologies.
If the borrowed technology requires activation to be used, then put the activation cube next to your
affiliation cube. This way you know which player has activated it this round.
You don't need another player's consent to borrow one's technology.
In rare cases, if you have drawn more black cubes while passing the check than expected, and cannot afford both the bribe and the technology price, place one action cube in your city area on your player mat. It means you failed and wasted one action cube. After that, you can either research or try to borrow another (cheaper) technology, or pass the turn to the next player.
In your turn, while choosing the research as your main action, you can research several times, spending action cubes each time.
