Relic is a mythical, holy object that grants special abilities to the army that holds it. Relics appear on the map during the exploration of new province tiles. In total, the game involves n+1 relics, where n is the number of players.
Relics can be taken and carried only by military units, no more than one relic per unit. Such a relic is considered yours, and a relic controlled by an enemy unit is considered foreign.
Your relic is active when it is in a province under enemy control, otherwise it is inactive. The active relic brings coins and Glory at the end of each round, and allows you to use its unique power.
Regardless of whether the relic is active or not, it grants permanent bonuses to the army that carries it:
Relics facilitate the spread of your religion and complicate the spread of foreign religions. Your army with a relic in a province reduces the complexity of spreading your religion to that province and complicates the spread of foreign religion.
Many cultural achievements are linked to control of the relics, which is one of the ways to victory.
