1486-1599 CE
From 1486 to 1599 CE, the Burmese reunited under Toungoo's tiger — Tabinshwehti dreaming of empire from a minor principality, his brother-in-law Bayinnaung conquering more territory than any Burmese king before or since, his cavalry seizing Ayutthaya and demanding elephants as tribute. For one generation Burma dominated mainland Southeast Asia; then the empire overreached, and rebellions in Siam and Arakan brought the colossus down.
